An evening of exceptional emotional intensity – and at the same time the album release of the new project “Death, the Muse.”

With this program, the Lied duo Cornelia Sonnleithner (alto) and Clara Sophia Murnig (piano) invite the audience to an in-depth musical exploration of the central themes of the Romantic Lied repertoire. Works by Johannes Brahms, Gustav Mahler, and Modest Mussorgsky open up multifaceted perspectives on transience, memory, and transformation.

At its core lies the experience of farewell and death not as an external event, but as an inner process – a field of tension between loss and consolation, pain and new beginnings, past and future. In this way, the music becomes a space for existential reflection, where emotional intensity and artistic clarity converge.

At the same time, the program tells of love that endures in all its facets – as quiet remembrance, as longing, and as hope.

As part of this concert evening, the album of the same name will be presented for the first time. The artists understand their recording as a deeply personal and emotional experience – not as a lament, but as an expression of transformation and continuation.
